UNDISCOVERED: Solo Exhibit 2024
“UNDISCOVERED” encapsulates Erika Kasuga’s imaginative journey through the interplay of life forms and the ever-changing nature of existence. Her work delves into birth, coexistence, and death, focusing particularly on the undiscovered and the imaginary. Her work draws inspiration from prehistoric cave paintings and ceremonial art, depicting a multitude of creatures that inhabit her mind. These creatures symbolize the intricately connected components of an ecosystem and the cosmos itself. They echo the complex and continuous “act of living and dying” from ancient times to the present. Pulling inspiration from the centuries of artists that have come before her, Erika’s art stems from the understanding that much of the future is rooted within the past. Each creature, each line, and each color symbolizes the interconnected dance of life, death, and
rebirth in all things.
