Erika Kasuga is a Japanese artist born in New York in 2005. Her artistic practice is a continuous exploration of existence's fundamental questions on spirituality, consciousness, the cycles of life and death, and the origins of creation. Kasuga primarily experiments with point and line, employing them as formal elements and as conduits for energy and meaning. Her process is often an intuitive dance between intention and discovery, allowing the artwork to reveal itself as she engages with the materials. Kasuga's spiritual practices, which profoundly influence her art, are rooted in her family's heritage as a Jodo Shinshu temple. Her art seeks to visually articulate the unseen and translate complex spiritual and universal concepts into tangible forms, inviting contemplation and connection.

She has won numerous awards for her artwork, including four coveted national gold medals and five national silver awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, a renowned stepping stone for young artists, including young Andy Warhol. In recognition of her achievement, she was awarded at Carnegie Hall in New York City during the summer of 2023. Two of her works were showcased in the 2023 "Fresh Perspectives" exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution's Morris Museum in the United States. Notably, her work was used as the main promotional image for the museum's official homepage and poster. In addition, she was selected as one of the five finalists out of 4000 applicants and received a Star Award in the UNIQLO x UNHCR “Youth With Refugees Art Contest 2023.” In the summer of 2024, she showcased her new collection of works under the theme of “UNDISCOVERED” at Hiroshige Gallery in Tokyo. She currently resides in London whilst studying Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins.
